Gaston Sauro made his professional debut for the Boca Juniors when he was 18. He continued his soccer career, playing in Switzerland and Italy, before coming to the Crew SC in 2015. On May 21, 2016, he suffered a knee injury that

jeopardized his future. His doctor said he needed a cartilage transplant to return to playing soccer one day. While he waited for a match, Gaston felt powerless. After five long months, he received his transplant, and he is now able to play with his children and work toward returning to the pitch. This is why he shares his story about organ and tissue donation. Gaston tells everyone to register as an organ, eye and tissue donor, because he knows his donor changed his life when they passed on their gift to him.
